We specialize in heavy industries with an emphasis on forestry, pulp & paper, mining and petrochemical.


Arrow Speed Controls is a complete VFD systems integrator with design, manufacturing, start-up and service capabilities. Our staff have over 100 years of speed control experience between them and can design a complete system from a simple fan application to a complete sawmill with multiple drives networked together. Our vast experience with variable frequency drive applications allows us to guarantee that our systems will work properly in any application.


In addition to VFDs we also have extensive experience with Soft Starts, Dynamic Brakes, DC Motors and Controls and Servo applications. We also specialize in Programmable Logical Controller (PLC) control systems and can design a control system from a simple level control to a complete mill.


Our manufacturing shop is fully CSA and UL approved and has sixteen full-time manufacturing personnel.


Arrow Speed Controls understands that after sales service and support is vital to the success of our customers’ business so we have assembled a team of factory trained Service Representatives who are available 24 hours a day to respond to Customer emergencies. These Technical Representatives perform start-ups and field service for our products across North America.

Job Title: Field Service Representative


Seeking CUSTOMER-FOCUSED, reliable, Technical, problem-solving, Field Service individual to join our Arrow Speed Controls service team.


Job Description

As a field service Representative you will perform all levels of repair and preventative/predictive maintenance on industrial automation equipment in the field across a broad industry base. Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems, understanding mechanical system requirements, set-up and calibration of VFD’s, AC Servos and PLCs are all within your capabilities.


Job Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Industrial Automation

  • VFD, Servo and DC Drives:

  • Knowledge of mechanical dynamics of various applications

  • Thorough knowledge and experience commissioning VFD and DC Drives

  • Experience with AC Servos an asset

  • Medium Voltage VFD experience an asset

  • PLC/HMI programming:

  • Programming experience, Example: Rockwell PLC/RSLogix, Siemens, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Omron and etc.

  • Experienced setting up, commissioning and troubleshooting DeviceNet, ControlNet and Ethernet/IP networks

  • Instrumentation experience

  • Customer service:

  • Must have effective and professional communication skills, verbal and written, with ability to converse to other technical people and engineers

  • Ability to work across international borders and travel within Canada

  • Must be willing to work overtime and be available for on-call rotation if required

  • Ability to work in a high pressure situation

  • Ability to work efficiently and reliably with minimal supervision (project management)

  • A safe work record

  • Adhere to company’s procedures and protocol
     


Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Technologist or Journeyman Electrical with controls background as a minimum.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Project management Experience


Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Report to Service Manager

  • Actively promote a high level of customer satisfaction by maintaining open communications and providing pro-active attention to customer requirements.

  • Respond to service calls promptly, perform commissioning of VFD, AC Servo and PLC systems at a customer site on a variable shift schedule that as determined by our customer’s needs, and assist operators with operational problems.

  • Perform tasks within a high level of skill and patience.

  • Produce timely and detail service reports

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.

Electric Drafter (Full-Time)

Operating since 1978 Arrow Speed has become the industry leader in Electric Speed Control Systems, Variable Frequency Drives, Electrical Controls, PLCs, HMIs, AC Servos, and Solid State Starters. With 100 employees and two manufacturing facilities in Canada we are preparing for continued growth.

  • The candidate for this position will be responsible for new customer development, existing customer support and technical support.
  • Necessary will be the ability to operate independently in a technically challenging environment, providing value to customers and managing multiple complex sales and support situations.
  • Confidence and composure under high pressure situations will be a requirement in this fast paced industrial arena.
  • Ability to converse with engineers, electrical personnel and business owners will be a requirement.
  • A sound mechanical aptitude will be an asset.
  • Travel throughout BC may also be required.
  • The job opportunity will pay a competitive base salary plus a commission, vehicle allowance and benefits, based on experience.
  • Preference will be given to a candidate possessing experience in the field but consideration may be given to the right recent graduate of Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology programs.
